Prof. Khaled Salah started with an introduction about integrated circuits (ICs), and then continued his talk, describing the Electronic Design Life-cycle, which typically and respectively consists of modeling, verification, optimization and protection. Prof. Salah then gave a brief description of the basic modeling technologies. After that, he jumped to the design flow of FPGA and immediately explained everything to know about emulators.
Emulators are based on FPGA’s and have various types. When it comes to optimization, FPGA’s are based on compiling time optimization and maximum frequency optimizations. Finally, Prof. Salah concluded the session with the types of System Protection, and the use of System Design Capture to complete the system using a combination of graphical and textual methods.
