Any small accident in the nuclear industry can easily take peoples’ lives. That’s why we have to predict every scenario that might happen in order to avoid it. The session was given by Dr. Mohamed Sobhy, he gave a presentation on nuclear materials which are required to work and operate in extreme environments of high temperature, pressure, and radiation damage. These conditions are even getting harder as the next generation of reactors tends to introduce higher burn-up rates.
The fuel cladding system should maintain its integrity and performance for extended periods of time under accidental conditions “accident tolerant fuel”.
