Because studying only isn’t enough to build a good engineer, IEEE Alexandria Student Branch (IEEE AlexSB) visits are one of the most important activities done to fill the gap between the academic study and practical work.
On the third of March 2014, IEEE AlexSB held a visit to Toshiba Factories. Toshiba is a world-class pioneering technology corporation, it is diversified in the manufacturing and marketing of advanced electronic and electrical products, spanning information & communications systems; digital consumer products; electronic devices and components; power systems (including nuclear energy); industrial and social infrastructure systems; and home appliances.
The visiting students from Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Departments who toured different active factories in the perimeter of the company facilities such as TV, bulbs, air conditioning and glass products, had enjoyed the visit, and more importantly, they linked their academic studies in college with the industry and practical field work, and they related more to the engineering job market.
It was a great experience and a great chance for those students to see firsthand what engineers in their field do in real life.
